Brazilian vocalist Anna Borges was born in Recife, Pernambuco and has lived most of her life to date in Brazil’s capital city, Brasilia.  In September 2004, Borges relocated to Boston, where she has sung with the Sergio Brandao Group, Alfredo Cardim, Anita Coelho and other Boston-based Brazilian musicians at some of the city’s finest venues including Ryle’s Jazz Club. Borges formed this group after meeting guitarist Jason Ennis and bassist Jon Suters when they were performing in Boston with the Sonya Kitchell Trio opening for Tuck and Patti at Sculler’s Jazz Club. The group, which features Ennis on nylon-string guitar, Suters on six-string electric bass, Conor Meehan on drums and is often joined by one or two auxiliary percussionists, performs samba, bossa nova, forró, and other Brazilan styles. The repertoire includes songs by some of the great songwriters of Brazil such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Guinga and others.
