Drummer
Ramón Ángel-Rey, guitarist
Jason Ennis, and bassist
Jon Suters
began playing together in 2001. Since that time, we’ve continued to develop
a unique sound, exploring original material, jazz standards, and especially
Brazilian and Afro-Cuban influenced jazz. Though we have alternately been know
as “The Jason Ennis Trio” or “The Fabulous Caxixi Brothers,” we
have chosen the current name because it is Ramón’s touring and
recording schedule with the acclaimed
Abe Rabade Trio (based in Galicia, Spain)
which dictates our performance schedule…. Plus, let’s face it-
he has the coolest name of the three!
As a trio, we’ve performed at several
venues in Western Massachusetts, including The Castle Street Café and
Club Helsinki, and also served as a backup band for saxophonist Charles Neville
of the Neville Brothers Band. We recently did a series of performances with
saxophonist Fred Haas, beginning what promises to be a rewarding musical relationship.
